Colin: I recently designed this website for comic book artist Jim Lawson. Jim has been one of my favorite comic book artists since I was a wee tot, and it’s been a total thrill to get to know him and create this showcase for his work. Jim worked at Mirage Studios, the creators of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, for over two decades. During that time as a staff comic book artist working outside the mainstream (which is something almost completely unheard of) he cultivated one of the most distinct and well developed styles in all of modern comics. His grotesque forms and expressive line bridge the gap between Jack Kirby and Paul Pope. A quick look at his staggeringly well crafted drawings of vehicles or dinosaurs will show you this guy’s killer talent. We here at Mysterious Transmissions are not done bringing the work of Jim Lawson to the internet, so stay tuned.
